William Senne (convicted of drunk driving)
Ellen Engelhardt (severely cognitively damaged)
In July of 2003, William Senne, 20, attended a party hosted at the residence of Stanley Rosenthal in Wayland where alcohol was present and consumed. Heading home from the party, Senne slammed into Trooper Ellen Engelhardt's cruiser while it was parked in the breakdown lane in Wareham.
Trooper Engelhardt suffered serious brain injury to the point that she is no longer aware of her surroundings.
William Senne was charged with drunk driving, driving in the breakdown lane, speeding and other charges. He was subsequently sentenced to 2 ½ years in the Plymouth House of Corrections, 5 years probation, and 500 hours of community service at a head trauma hospital.
